Professional Interventionist Training and Certification

The Love First Intervention training is coming to Australia, sponsored by The Sydney Retreat.

This training and certification program is unlike any other. Active learning is a central part of the experience, helping you gain new skills and increased confidence. This course is not for beginners; it is a specialised training and certification program for experienced clinicians and other qualified professionals. Thirty (30) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits are available through your certificate of attendance.

Jeff and Debra Jay have developed an advanced curriculum, complete with custom workbooks designed exclusively for this training. All participants will receive clinical field materials, written by the Jays, to use during actual interventions.

The 5-day interventionist training course covers every aspect of the process, including:

You will learn how to individualise the intervention process to the needs of the family and the person struggling with addiction, including working with co-occurring disorders and special populations.

Participants engage in analysis, evaluation, problem-solving, and team-based learning. The course includes three case supervisions to be completed by the end of the calendar year.

Jeff and Debra Jay have set the highest standards for this training. There is no fluff or filler; the training is intensive and challenging each day. You will leave with a new skill set that you can use immediately.

Lodging, meals, and snacks are included in the tuition cost of the training. All participants will stay at the St Joseph’s Spirituality & Education Centre, Kincumber South. The Centre provides a comfortable, home-like environment for the training. You won’t be sitting in a sterile classroom but instead will work and learn in a beautiful, supportive setting.

Growing Your Practice

Jeff Jay provides an special workshop Friday afternoon on how to build and market your intervention practice. He will teach you how to grow your private practice and become a trusted partner for treatment providers. He will share decades of experience and insight, with methods you can use right away.

Students who attend the training, pass the final exam, and complete three supervisions with Jeff Jay (included) will earn the right to display the LFCCI seal on their website with an explanatory link.

Admission Requirements

The Love First professional interventionist training and certification is designed for experienced addiction specialists and other seasoned professionals. We believe the job of an interventionist is not a job for beginners. To register for this training, a participant should have 3 years of experience in an addiction treatment or mental health program.

In addition, we require strong personal knowledge of 12-Step recovery.

EXCEPTIONS: Medical or treatment professionals, clergy, or others with strong experience, a 12 Step background, but fewer professional credentials will be considered. If you think you should be considered for admission, we will make decisions based on your individual background.

We’ll be glad to talk to you.
